Be very cautious before hiring Forever Builders.
I want to share my personal experience so others can go in with realistic expectations. I chose Forever Builders for my JADU project because their quote was slightly lower than another contractor’s, and my first project manager, Alex (Alex 1), seemed reliable. Things started off fine, but once they switched me to a different project manager — also named Alex (Alex 2) — the project became disorganized. Communication dropped, scheduling became inconsistent, and I often felt like I was managing the project myself.
Before hiring them, I noticed they had only 19 Houzz reviews, with none since 2023. One reviewer even had the same first name as their designer, Hodaya, which felt unusual and made me question how genuine some of the reviews were.
The design phase also reflected a lack of coordination. The first time I went to their showroom it was closed, and when I finally met with Hodaya, she had to call Alex 2 just to get basic project details. Even though I clearly explained my budget, the design estimate came back far over it. Because I wasn’t getting proper guidance, I ended up sourcing most of the materials myself and later found more affordable options elsewhere.
The coordination issues continued during construction. Since I work from home, I gave Alex 2 my keys and garage opener to avoid disruptions, but subcontractors still arrived without notice, interrupting my work calls and asking questions that should have gone directly to him. These unplanned interruptions became a regular problem and made the process more stressful than it needed to be. Trash and cigarette butts were left behind, and my driveway was damaged and never repaired.
When the problems kept stacking up, I reached out and explained that Alex 2 wasn’t following instructions, that subs were disrupting my work hours, and that my home had been left exposed multiple times. I also asked several times to speak with a manager but never received any contact information.
Instead of addressing the concerns, Dor became defensive. When I asked about adjusting the final payment because the poor service and repeated inconveniences warranted discussing a price reduction — especially since the contract includes a warranty that should cover lingering issues that didn’t prevent the project from passing inspection — Dor responded by saying they would escalate the matter legally and file a lien on my property. I was simply trying to resolve problems that were still outstanding.
Even though the project passed inspection, several issues appeared immediately afterward, including weak water pressure, a kitchen sink pipe that detached and flooded the space, and sloppy caulking around the baseboards. Cracks formed around the window trim and later around my front door frame. After performing some repairs, their handyman even painted the bathroom the wrong color, and Dor told me I needed to buy the paint to correct their mistake.
When I brought up the recurring cracks, Dor said they were “normal homeowner maintenance” caused by natural curing and settling, and explained their team had already come out multiple times. He then told me they would not be performing any further repairs.
Overall, my experience with Forever Builders was frustrating and stressful. In my opinion, they were disorganized, unresponsive, and more focused on pushing the project forward than providing quality work or clear communication. Based on what I went through, I would not recommend them.
