I don’t generally write reviews but Brad and the Merlino Construction group deserve a shout out. I’ve used them for several home improvement projects over the last few years and they’ve never let me down. They show up on time, work reliably, offer fair prices, and do quality work. Finding a company like this is rare these days—can’t recommend them enough.

I worked with Brad to replace some windows in my condo. The new windows were the wrong size and smaller than the old ones. One of the installers commented that Brad mis-measured. Brad didn't want to return the small windows or order the correct size so the installers had to re-frame the window openings to fit the smaller ones. This has led to smaller windows in one part of my condo. In addition, Merlino did not do a good job fixing the interior trim of the windows they damaged during installation. I had to ask them to come back again to fix it properly. For the money Merlino charges, they should have done the job correctly the first time but they seemed to be rushing most of the time, to the detriment of the project. I will not be using them again for any home renovation projects.
Edit after Merlino responded: I appreciate the response and the details there were an additional 2'' of height that was only found after demo began. I was unaware of this. I only knew of the 1'' of additional width. I would have liked to have known the height issue as well and what my options were at that point.

Highly recommend. We got other quotes before starting the project, and Merlino was the best balance of fair pricing and professional service/communication. They renovated our kitchen and added a front porch- it completely transformed our house. They do great work and are very responsive to feedback along the way. Brad, Patrick, and the rest of the team are so easy to work with. The project was also completed in a reasonable time frame, despite Fairfax co putting us through the wringer with permits.

Merlino did a complete remodel of our house 6 years ago. Brad and his crew are easy to work with and they do such great work. We had them come back and install picture frame molding and wallpaper in our dining room. They also wallpapered our powder bath and installed a new chandelier. I can’t recommend them enough.

They did an INCREDIBLE job fully renovating the first floor of my rowhouse on Capitol Hill. They removed a drop ceiling, rerouted the HVAC, rebuilt the stairs, refinished the floors, and fully redid the kitchen. And they were excellent to work with. Super responsive, very budget minded, and everything turned out better than I could have imagined. I feel like I have a new home! They were recommended by neighbors, and Highly, highly highly recommend them. There are some before photos (when the house was staged when I moved in several years ago) and after.
