I recently had my outdated flooring and 30-year-old cedar shake roof replaced by JM Remodeling & Construction, LLC. I cannot express how happy I am with the results. The entire process was seamless from start to finish.

JM Remodeling replaced the roof on our 28 year old home due to the recently heavy rains. The team did a great job. The owner and project manager provided pictures of the damage. JM Remodeling also replaced the roof on our 40 year old income property duplex and to this day, no problems whatsoever. The new owner also was satisfied. This was the affirmation we needed to hire them for our roof replacement.

My domestic partner Monica signed with JM Remodeling & Construction LLC 11/24. Water damaged 1924 Wauwatosa home. We’re 20 years homeowners experienced with remodels. Worst experience we’ve had. $47K project included: EPDM garage roof, door, gutters, Marvin Ultimate Signature windows. No permit issued after Monica inquired for permit 1st meeting 10/1/24. Owner & PM used subcontractors. Most projects fraught with problems. We both met with PM & subcontractors several times, but failed to communicate effectively to solve problems. We requested repair, sent photos/videos of damage, emailed letters, phone calls, certified letters, copies of inspections & filed complaints 1/25-7/25. SUMMARY: Owner did NOT do final inspection. So we hired an independent housing inspector who found unsatisfactory work on windows, siding, door, gutters, fascia. Serious mistakes include: window installed upside down, new knee wall framing/window frames/windowsills lacked construction screws & were not attached to the house. Homeowner found unopened Marvin window instruction manual sealed packet in dumpster. Gaps around 7 newly installed windows not weather sealed. Gaps stuffed with fiberglass insulation became wet after rain. After removing wet insulation, we could see outside through gaps. PM looked at windows and said “standard pocket install.” Both private home inspector + an independent Marvin specialist we hired 1/25 alerted us to safety hazards of incorrect installs. We contacted JM with photos/video evidence. DOOR: JM ordered wrong size door. We were present as contractor called PM and was told to “work with it.” So the opening was cut larger to fit the door. NO weather sealing above door trim. Inspector reported: door installed crooked. We can see to outside around door trim. Door installers attempted HVAC project, cutting out a wall stud. Owner examined as requested and said “they’re not HVAC guys.” So we canceled HVAC project. SIDING: subcontracted. Demo done on old siding 2nd story dormer 11/15/24. Left without siding 1 week 11/15-11/22. During that week 11/18 - 19 a 2 day rainstorm occurred. Without siding, above newly installed kitchen window, we collected 2.5 gallons of water where it rained inside from kitchen window JM installed 10/24/24. 7 windows JM installed had water leaks. Inspector reported LP lap Smartsiding incorrectly installed: over 500 visible face nails. We found reference to blind nailing 15 times in LP instruction manual! LP calls for expansion gaps. There were no gaps. Minor problems private inspector found: JM missed hole in garage roof during EPDM install, pine fascia board left unpainted, shingles broken by subcontracted gutter installers. Despite all problems, our main concern was safety hazard of loose windows. We have messages from PM 1/6 & 1/17/25 that windows would soon be attached. Monica continued to text/email owner Owner & PM 6 months. As of 2026 it’s not done, so we hired a finishing contractor to pull windows out & re-install properly. We sent private inspection report to JM 2/25 certified mail+email. We consulted Better Business Bureau. JM contract has BBB mediation clause. We filed complaint with DATCP who sent a warning letter to JM Remodeling. BBB & DATCP mediation was unsuccessful. This could have been remedied by an experienced Marvin installer re-install windows according to instruction manual and screwing them in! The owner got my partner to sign a termination agreement waiving liability. After 7 months contacting both JM owner and PM, they did not return to attach the windows. So we hired a different Finishing Contractor. I searched public court records, found cases listed with Owner and son. Recommendations: Beware of this company. Read fine print of contracts. Check public court records. Get permits.

Jim and team did an excellent job adding a balcony to our home, redoing the porch, and installing new siding. The quality of the work is amazing. They were easy to work with, responsive, and on time.
