I generally always liked Urban farm oasis and I've been coming here for 8 years to get chicken feed and chicks. They have a large variety of urban farming supplies including chicken feed, chicks, bee hives, etc. The space is nice as well. But I recently had an experience that was very disappointing: My wife had called to order some chicks (white crested black polish chickens) because they look cute. Nobody mentioned to us that these chicks are not sexed at the hatchery, neither when I picked them up nor when my wife ordered them them on the phone. We picked the chicks up and raised them for three months. At that point it was quite apparent that ALL FIVE were roosters which are not allowed in the city. I talked to an employee who confirmed (after looking at pictures) that they were roosters. We spent $150 on the chicks and feed and wasted 3 months.
When I called to ask what we should do, they told me that they tell all customers that these chicks are not sexed (we were not told), that there are no refunds, and that they can not give us new chicks as compensation. They didn't even take the roosters back, instead telling us to bring them to Mike's Feed, which I did.
This experience was very disappointing considering backyard chickens are pretty much always sold sexed. I understand that there can be issues sexing certain breeds but buyers should be made aware that. I would venture to say that very few backyard chicken keepers in the city want a rooster.
Over the years I have probably spend $3000 on chicken feed from this place and their refusal to give us any kind of compensation is a huge disappointment.

Write oneThis is an INCREDIBLE store. The owners are kind, knowledgeable, the workers are awesome, and they have all the gear you need to create a little home-farm. From chicks to bees - and they make it super approachable to get started.
The community events are awesome too - perfect for kids. My kids loved making ice cream from scratch, petting farm animals, and I surprisingly loved learning about making my own compost which has completely rejuvinated my backyard fruit trees. This store is 10/10, no notes.
Super helpful and awesome place. I had been looking to source some worms for composting, and definitely came to the right spot! All the awesome honey and farming stuff was just a bonus for me. Had to buy a T-shirt, this kind of business is worth supporting.
Really LOVE this place! The staff and owners are so friendly, thoughtful and host a helluva gathering! Come by today to participate in an urban farm tour complete with hot dogs, petting zoo, face painting and nature art. Come visit this lovely community and snag some local honey and plant starts. :)
My idea of a really good day is visiting Kate at bio fuel oasis. Everything is Farmy and charming. I buy my chicken food there as well as bales of hay to keep my chickens happy. Beautiful, heirloom, seedlings, art, beekeeping supplies, etc.
